Water Damage Emergency after Returning from Vacation

There’s nothing worse than returning home from a great vacation, only to find that your home is filled with water damage because a pipe started to leak while you were away. Not only do you have to fix the leak, but you also have to clean up the water damage as soon as possible, so it doesn’t spread any further. A homeowner recently contacted us after discovering a pipe burst in her kitchen. To make matters worse, the homeowner had just returned from a vacation, so she wasn’t sure how long it had been leaking or whether or not the leak had caused damage to other areas of the home. Even though it was after normal business hours, the homeowner called SERVPRO of Palm Desert, knowing that we worked all hours of the day. We immediately sent our Project Manager, Randy Bernal, out to inspect the damage that same night. 

In addition to the kitchen, Randy detected water damage in the living room and bathroom. His first job was to turn off the water source. He then called Crew Chief, Greg Gallegos out to help create a remediation plan. Once the SERVPRO of Palm Desert crew arrived, they began working on the water damage right away.  First, they extracted all of the standing water. They then had to remove the baseboards, ventilate the walls, and drill the toe kicks under the cabinets in the kitchen. High Velocity Air Movers and Dehumidifiers were placed to expedite the drying in the kitchen and the rest of the remaining water damage in the home. 

The homeowner was so pleased with our work. She told us how relieved she was that our team was able to remove all of the water damage and do so in such a timely manner. We were happy to help!
