SERVPRO HELPS PACK OUT HOME DUE TO WATER DAMAGE

When water starts flooding your home, it seems like there’s nothing you can do to stop it. It seeps from the pipe, through your floors, and into the material on your furniture. Then what? Now, not only are you dealing with fixing your walls and floors, you have to do something with the furniture. Thankfully, at SERVPRO of Palm Desert, we know exactly how to handle these situations. A Rancho Mirage homeowner gave us a call after a pipe burst in his home. As the home flooded, the homeowner first called his Insurance Company who recommended SERVPRO. We were able to arrive onsite at the home within the hour and assess the home and the best way to dry down the home and furniture. The homeowner was an avid book collector and had an office that needed to be packed up so SERVPRO to get to wet walls and cabinets and properly dry down his home.

In this case the homeowner was advised by our Project Manager, Edgar Carrasco, that it would be necessary to pack up the portions of his home that were wet and he opted for a pod to be placed on site in the driveway in order to have access to his belongings. 

Our team of packers was dispatched to take pictures of all contents, pack boxes, and label the boxes according to the rooms and area with a wonderful program called Assured Pack Out on our IPAD that helps with all of this. We are able to give pictures of all belongings, furniture and contents and give a copy to the homeowner and the insurance adjuster.

Our Crew Chief, Juan Beltran, led the team of technicians in the pack out of the contents. Our technicians removed the necessary drywall, carpeting, and affected materials from the home and installed drying equipment before, during and upon completion of the pack out.

There are times like in this case after we are finished with the drying services the contents will stay in the pod, or in our warehouse until after the necessary repairs are done to the home. SERVPRO of Palm Desert also performed a Mold Remediation in certain areas of the home while we were drying down.

After repairs are completed SERVPRO of Palm Desert returned this week to the home and unpacked the boxes and contents and set them back into the home. We utilize our team that can put back items using their Assured Pack Out pictures and documentation in order to assist in placing furniture and items back in their original places. Sometimes the customer likes to put a little item here or there but we happy to help.

The homeowner was so happy with our work. Though he knew the damage was extensive, he was grateful that SERVPRO of Palm Desert was able to help. He knew his home was in good hands and promised to call us again if any other water damage problems arose! We also will take care of cleaning the new carpet in a few years! We will have a customer for life!
